Teesside-based Durata has announced it is to host an industry get-together later this month as part of a networking drive.
The specialists in critical infrastructure will welcome the Electrical Contractor Association’s (ECA) South Durham and Yorkshire branch to its Middlesbrough headquarters at the Tees AMP on Wilfred Whitfield Way.
It follows on from Durata’s recent activity, which has seen them build on sponsorship of local sporting teams by connecting regularly with clients and potential customers.
As well as recently hosting its second networking night, Durata also hosted its first golf day at Rockliffe Hall and now the ECA will head to its base on October 17.

Alison McGee, Durata’s quality director, said: “From a business perspective it is about building brand awareness. We enjoy having people here and hosting these events.
“Our Durata home is a destination where we have tried hard to make it a nice, welcoming place to be. We know that Teesside is one of the best areas for people and businesses to help each other out and if we can do our bit to create an environment that’s a bit different, then hopefully that helps.
“We don’t just have a normal generic meeting room here. We are hosting the ECA South Durham and North Yorkshire branch event and we want it to be a little bit different for those who attend.
“They meet up regularly to discuss issues in the industry and they have not been able to because of the lockdowns and Covid. We offered to have this meeting here and we will be having a games night with pizzas, pool and darts.”

A few weeks ago, Durata’s golf day was a success – and the autumnal weather stayed fine too.
Four fourballs competed for the title and it was Rob Whyte’s team representing Challenge Physio who claimed the trophy.
Socomec, JB Associates, Close Protection Security, Challenge Physio, Ekko Sense and South Shields Football Club’s owner Geoff Thompson all took part on an afternoon that could be repeated annually.

Durata’s managing director John McGee said: “It was fantastic to have the first ever golf day in the Durata name. I was actually poorly on the day, but there were other members of the Durata team involved and the idea comes from us loving golf.
“We are corporate members at Rockliffe Hall so it was also nice for it to take place in such a brilliant setting. Rob White from Challenge Physio won the event – and the feedback was that everyone said how good a day it was.”

The golf day followed on from the successful Durata networking evening in early September.
There was music from the renowned DJs Beat Boutique, food supplied by Parm-O-Rama and drinks served by the Salt Steel Brewery, with help from sponsors Steel Benders, Superlec Electrical Distributors, Rephrase, InstaCargo, The Social Prod, Symbol Display, Middlesbrough College and Socomec.

The event attracted more than 100 people for the second year in a row, with business people travelling to Durata from as far as London, from Leighton Buzzard to Linthorpe. There is more planned too.
Alison said: “Following the success of last year’s event we wanted to do it again and keep the momentum going. Next year is our tenth anniversary as a business and we want to go bigger and better – look out for Durata Fest!”
